Senior Building Systems Engineer II - Solutions Development CT Platforms

Position Description

Job Summary

CertainTeed is looking for a Senior Building Systems Engineer II to join our Solutions Development team. This role will help develop and launch new products and processes to improve the sustainability, performance, and appeal of residential and commercial buildings. This role is part of a multi-disciplinary team of experts in building physics, engineering, materials science, industrial design, and architecture that focuses on the early-stage development of new system-based solutions for the building industry.

This role focuses on a variety of new horizon initiatives, including new interior and exterior finishes, digital tools, and building systems, all with a common agenda to make buildings easier to install, more durable, and more energy efficient. One major focus area for the team is offsite manufacturing, and this role would assist with the technical development and rollout of the CertainTeed “One Precision Assemblies” built-to-spec floor, wall, and roof panels.

Essential functions:

  • Prototyping new building products, systems, and processes
  • Developing and documenting product designs, construction details, and installation processes
  • Reviewing and preparing calculations, drawing sets, 3D BIM models, and shop drawings
  • Interfacing with consulting engineers, builders, and manufacturing partners for the design and production of panelized walls, roofs, and floor cassettes

 


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) + 12 years experience Master of Science or Engineering (MS or MEng) + 7 years of experience, or Ph.D. + 3 years of experience in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building and Construction Technology, Building Science, or related fields
  • Experience working in construction, architecture, engineering, or design-build office
  • Knowledge of residential building construction practices, including hands-on experience
  • Ability to travel 25%
