What’s the job?

The Territory Manager (TM) in the Insulation organization is responsible for all aspects of sales and service to a mixture of commercial, residential, and technical insulation customers. The TM is accountable to achieve growth and profitability objectives for CertainTeed in concert with sales and marketing objectives. The TM must establish and maintain relationships with customers to include all stakeholders in the territory. This includes distributors, contractors, sheet metal shops, mechanical engineers, and other influencers. New and existing account development in these market segments is critical to meet our growth objectives. Product knowledge, financial business acumen, and the ability to develop industry and market knowledge and opportunity analyses are essential to the success of the role.

This is for our Minneapolis territory (position location Minneapolis, covering the states of MN, WI, IL, ND, SD, Northern Iowa).

  • Operates in a safe and environmentally conscious manner, providing Preferred Service and to our customers.
  • Develops and implements territory strategy consistent with the overall company's Strategic Sales and Marketing Plan to maximize quality/effectiveness and quantity of sales calls.
  • Calls on customers such as contractors, distributors, specifiers, sheet metal shops, engineers and owners creating "pull-through" demand, when appropriate working with distribution customers to close related sales.
  • Proactively participates as an active member in key events such as builder and trade shows
  • Build, maintain, and add value to relationships between customers’ and CertainTeed's organizations; "customer" includes all audiences - owners, specifiers, contractors, distribution, etc.
  • Provide technical support to all customer audiences; establish credibility as solutions oriented, industry expert.
  • Performs market sensing functions, reports on customer needs, and market intelligence/trends.
  • Monitors market pricing and, where applicable, presents documented price approval requests to manager in strict accordance with legal requirements and company guidelines.
  • Conducts/participates in sales promotion and educational meetings with architects, contractors, applicators, and distributors' personnel.
  • Actively work and collaborate with your Interior Products Group (IPG) counterparts in the territory (CertainTeed – Architectural/Ceilings and Gypsum)
  • Identify, qualify and develop new account prospects consistent with overall company strategy.
  • Participate in formalized Scorecard/Sales Coaching process and appropriate training programs to continuously improve professional selling and technical competencies.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs timely review and updates of pricing in support of customer service and transaction accuracy.
  • Assist in preparation and placement of orders for new customers.
  • Administrative functions as directed by management (e.g., reports, expense management, customer info, CRM, etc.)

Required Qualifications

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor's Degree in any field, or the equivalent training which will provide a working knowledge of the regulations, practices and procedures concerned with outside sales activities for the construction industry.
  • Three plus years of related experience in applying this knowledge in daily sales activities such as managing customer relationships, sales presentations and the closing of sales.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%
  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and build quality relationships through networking.
  • Negotiation skills, problem solving abilities, and presentation skills a must.
  • Proficiencies in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) are also required.

Additional Description

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is $72,218 to $108,331 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is from 30% to 105% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $94,000 to $141,000.
