Job Summary

Saint-Gobain Performance Ceramic and Refractories (PCR) is interested in hiring a Field Service Technician to manage the post sales, installation and construction of PCR Refractories solutions in the Foundry market.  Key responsibilities will include supervising the installation of refractory monolithics, promoting PCR solutions to customers, managing turnkey projects, facilitating the link with the customer and the sales group, and collaborating to achieve the forecasted sales, profit and asset objectives for assigned products and markets worldwide within prescribed budgetary limits. The position oversees a regional enterprise operating in a highly technical and very competitive environment requiring constant innovation and thus must collaborate with the commercial, technical, and operations groups, and be accountable for results.

  • Working with the sales team to perform in person customer visits to generate new commercial opportunities.
  • Act as a direct link between the sales team and the customer to supervise new trial installations, work with existing customers and distributors to ensure our customers are receiving the quality and proper service they are accustomed to.  Making onsite recommendations for new products or solutions which the sales team can then provide quotations and commercial agreements for.  
  • Act as the technical resource for product selection, installation methods, and operational suggestions for customers as required and present proposals designed to improve their operation or secure new business by displacing competition. 
  • Identify new opportunities and undertake product development projects designed to satisfy the requirement to ensure continued growth of sales and customer base.  Collaborate with sales to resolve all quality and service complaints including issuing of reports. 
  • Provide direct supervision of installation/application of assigned products at customer's facilities to ensure installation according to required instructions. Supervise distributor activities and coordinate sub-contracting of installers or products. 
  • Help to provide sales forecast data, and determine requirements to achieve commercial success.  Secure competitive information to gain a competitive advantage.  Collaborating with sales to promote and price products competitively within the given market. 

  


Required Qualifications

  • HS Diploma Required.
  • Bachelors in Material Science/Ceramics Engineering a plus.
  • General Refractory/Foundry Knowledge required.
  • 5 + Years experience in refractory applications. Foundry is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of refractory installation and operation within the Foundry Market
  • Understanding of LOTO, confined space entry, utilization of respirators of CO2 monitors required (training and PPE will be provided)
  • Ability to work independently, and make good judgement.
  • Analytical and Critical Thinking

Additional Description

  • Incumbent preferred location is in the Midwest, but up for discussion
  • Travel up to 75% of the time
