Position Description

Job Summary

The Research Technician safely performs specialized technical functions involving material processing, testing, analyzing, improving, installing, operating, and/or solving problems concerning complex processes, equipment and products for assigned areas.

ROLE SUMMARY

Responsibilities include:

Perform specialized material processing and testing

  • Conduct material preparation and processing following SOP: wet-lab synthesis and mixing, polymer extrusion and molding.
  • Primary operator support for assigned test instruments.
  • Assist and serve as back-up operator for specified polymer processing, test instruments, and machining.
  • Test specimen preparation.
  • Submit test requests to external and internal analytical labs.
  • Proactively engages in improvement and development of wet-lab, polymer processing, and testing methods

Data Management

  • Maintain good recording keeping of lab data, analysis, and learnings in lab notebook.
  • Organize data and perform preliminary analysis to support assigned work.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

  • Maintain and troubleshoot testing instruments and processing machines in the laboratory
  • Coordinate with external vendors for repairs and maintenance
  • Maintain high standard of lab 5S, ensure safety operation and HSE compliance.

 COMPETENCIES:

  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with reporting software such as Microsoft word and Excel
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in hot-processing and mechanical testing
  • Demonstration of machining skills, wet-lab experience, polymer processing, chemical handling is preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety operations
  • Ability to work with a diverse project team in an open and collaborative mode
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Results-driven and hold strong commitment to timeline and delivery

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED (demonstrated equivalent) with 1-5 years of experience
  • Hands on experience in general laboratory tasks including proper chemical handling
