Sales Engineer, Automotive Thermal Insulation

Position Description

Job Summary

Reporting to the Business Manager, Heat Protection Products, this position is responsible for identifying, developing and maximizing new and incremental Automotive Thermal Insulation opportunities within the North American Automotive Sector. The candidate should have a thorough working knowledge and experience that includes a proven track record of building, managing and closing opportunities focusing on selling into automotive manufacturing channels. This also includes technical experience working with Tier 1 and Tier 2 engineering teams to recommend and influence decision makers on the appropriate materials required to meet customer’s thermal insulation needs.

What will you do in this position?

  • Manage customers or potential customers in the OEM/Tier1/Tier2 Thermal Insulation Automotive segment in North America.
  • Manage the development and maximization for new and incremental automotive market opportunities for the ADFORS Insulation business. Respond to RFQ’s and provide timely price quotations to build customer relationships at all major external product intersections including Purchasing, Logistics, R&;D, Engineering and Plant Operations.
  • Work with customers’ engineering teams to develop custom designed component solutions in the area of thermal insulation. Make recommendations and influence decisions on the appropriate materials to use for the application.
  • Participate in annual Sales Goal setting and Sales Budget planning.
  • Manage product launch and provide technical support to customers.
  • Manage customer/distributor claims, credit and collection issues.
  • Provide sales reports on a monthly basis (or as necessary) to senior management.
  • Conduct price maintenance, contract and payment term compliance reviews.
  • Continue to update knowledge of products, applications and market conditions.
  • Regularly develop business plans, yearly budgets, monthly reports, gap plans, and prospect reports. Ensure they are communicated to the most relevant parties.
  • Communicate and drive innovation based on market research and customer pain points.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related subjects is required, Master’s degree preferred. 5+ years of work experience in automotive sales and/or engineering and 3+ years of sales engineering experience is required.  Knowledge of thermal insulation products in the Automotive Sector is a must, knowledge of the Electric Vehicle market a plus. The incumbent must also be able to read CAD drawings and be able to interface with engineers on technical aspects of application. Travel across North America will be required approx. 50% of the time so a valid Passport is required. Ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required.
