The Production Manager, under the general supervision of the Plant Manager, is responsible for the manufacturing operations. This includes the development and leadership of all manufacturing hourly personnel. Assists in the manufacturing, implementation, efficiency, and effectiveness of new and existing products. Ensures production demands are met while maintaining a safe workplace for employees. Responsible for providing supervision and leading the coordination of varied multiple activities to ensure the production of high performance products with the quality, delivery, and cost to meet customers’ requirements. Responsible for daily supervision of department personnel and local project management.
Essential Functions:
- Manages and supports front line supervision of the Extrusion, Fabrication, Tool Room, and Compounding Departments in the plant. Directs and coordinates the operation of all aforementioned departments based on production guidelines, establishes priorities and production schedules within the confines of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Create, communicate and drive continuous improvement across processes and tools, by understanding current processes and looking for ways to optimize them through identification of gaps in order to improve and sustain upon improved metrics such as OTIF, OTD, and waste.
- Actively supports WCM within departments and establishes department objectives based on the WCM management approach. Also, provides leadership for quality standards, production efficiency, training needs, continuous improvement/cost reductions, scrap improvement, safety standards and environmental compliance.
- Manage cross functional projects involving areas of direct ownership and collaborative efforts throughout the plant, to position facility well to add capacity to support future growth, prioritize CAPEX investment, align with corporate initiatives and lead next generation technological improvements.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Management, Manufacturing or Technical (Required)
- MBA (preferred)
Work Experience:
- 7+ years Manufacturing Operations with demanding operational activity (Required)
- 7+ years of Production Leadership, Lean/Continuous Improvement Methodology (Preferred)

- Know and understand the quality and safety policies and demonstrate this comprehension through daily leadership and actions.
- Complete all quality and safety training required for the specific position.
- Follow all quality and safety rules and procedures and remind others.
- Commit to addressing and reporting any unsafe condition or quality issue immediately.
- Be empowered and speak up when unsafe behaviors are observed or quality issues arise and to not place blame while investigating these issues.
- Adhere to the principles of data integrity.
Practical/Technical/Digital Knowledge:
- Excellent communication and proven team building skills. The incumbent must possess strong leadership skills and be a hand-on leader to continually build effective relationships, drive accountability, challenge assumptions and provide support and resources for improvements in all aspects of the manufacturing process (Required)
- A proven ability to foster and establish effective working relationships with management team, employees, and key contacts will be critical to drive the necessary changes to support overall process improvements. Required
- Must be self-motivated and able to make independent, informed and prioritized decisions through strong analytical skillset (Required)
- Safety oriented management style developed in a manufacturing environment (Required)
- Experience with continuous improvement processes (Lean Manufacturing/WCM) (Preferred)
Leadership & communication skills
- Transform plans and strategies into actionable tasks for the plant to execute (Preferred)
- Possess ability to properly delegate, direct, influence and lead teams as situation requires (Preferred)
