Job Summary

The Product Manager is responsible for implementing product growth strategies, including marketing for the Diamond, Diamond Compound & Slurries portfolio worldwide.  Associated responsibilities include forecasting, guiding new product development in current and new markets, implementing pricing strategy, and overall promotion of products, including advertising, trade shows, literature, etc.

The Product Manager is an exciting customer-facing role responsible for managing a technical product line in a couple of electronic and industrial markets. This position will work closely together with the Director of Sales + Marketing to define and execute annual and long-term business plans. Identify commercial opportunities in the form of new customers and/or new products & sustain and nurture the strong relationships at existing accounts.

This person is responsible for selling highly technical solutions to his or her accounts through a co-development and partnership process. The technical manager tracks the project pipeline and effectively communicates on progress and needs to the customers and inside the organization. This position requires advanced technical knowledge and abilities in Product Management. The incumbent must be a technical expert on product applications, technology, and design, as well as an authority on markets, competitive situations, and product profitability.

The incumbent has the great opportunity to interact with cross-functional teams regularly by being on the same site. This position requires 20-30% domestic travel.

Role Summary:

  • Analyze, understand, and manage the assigned product lines including product pricing & product positioning
  • Work with manufacturing operations to provide accurate and timely information regarding customer demand to support sales and service objectives.
  • Provide periodic forecasts used to anticipate overall sales performance
  • Establish and manage the strategic partnership with key customers for mid to long-term engagement
  • Participate and conduct on-site demos of products at customers as needed
  • Collect, analyze, and transmit information regarding market evolution, competitors, and technology trends
  • The incumbent must have good interpersonal capability and be able to work closely with customers ranging from operator, technical and senior management. He/she must have a strong customer orientation and provide excellence customer service.

Essential Functions:

Analyze, understand, and manage the assigned product lines including product pricing & product positioning

Work with cross-function teams on various product development projects, responsible for the overall project timeline, tracking/monitoring action items and their progress on a regular basis, gathering the team for brainstorming, proposing solutions, summarizing, and updating status, etc. This includes new product development, raw materials qualification, and technical support for plant and external customers. Develops a working relationship with operators, engineers, sourcing, and commercial teams.

Provide periodic forecasts used to anticipate overall sales performance

Meet with the Internal sales Team to develop a go-to-market strategy, identify target clients and ensure follow-through with the team and hold them accountable for the next steps. Provide support as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 4 + years of experience in Applications, Sales, Marketing management experience, preferably in the materials industry
  • 4 + years of experience in manufacturing or operations, or working closely with operations teams
  • Prior work experience in product management, business development, or applications engineering is highly preferred
  • A strong technical science background and experience
  • Understanding of total quality management concepts, and other quality initiatives.
