The Product Regulatory Leader provides expert product stewardship guidance and leadership to businesses and technology developers regarding compliance with EPA, REACH, Prop 65 and other global regulations that govern Saint-Gobain products with emphasis in PFAS. They will establish a regulatory focus on Product Stewardship and have a future vision for what good looks like to create a robust Product Stewardship culture across multiple businesses/industries - Life Sciences (medical & food contact), Composites, Mobility.  

The Product Regulatory Leader works closely with other SBU Product Stewards, EHS and Technical/Customer Service/Sales/Marketing organizations in the areas of product registration, monitoring and measuring product risk profiles, product compliance certifications, product footprint, and sustainable design.

This is a newly created & highly visible role and is a key team member of Composite Systems EHS Leadership Team to support its business customers.  

Preferred Location - Remote, USA - Northeast.

Key Accountabilities:

Product & Raw Material Risk Assessments: •

  • Maintain SG PFAS raw material database that includes supplier compliance statements, raw material test data and finished product testing
  • Establish a PFAS footprint for each Product or Product Family
  • Categorize product portfolio to identify applications of essential use
  • Analyze existing raw materials and product regulatory risks regularly

Product Hazard Communications:

  • Manage/update product Safety Data Sheets, Article Information Sheets, or labels
  • Standardize Regulatory Information sheets to be utilized by SBU’s for external communications
  • Support customer product inquires, requests, and compliance demonstrations 
  • Partner with SBU Product Management teams to reply  to customer requests

Product Regulatory Monitoring & Communications:

  • Forecast PFAS and other regulatory changes/impacts to product and raw material risk profiles 
  • Participate in fluoropolymer and PFAS advocacy programs
  • Ensure all products that contain PFAS meet regulatory recordkeeping, reporting and notification criteria
  • Work with stakeholders to resolve changing product risks
  • Provide product safety communication support   

Clearance To Manufacture, Import, and Sell Saint-Gobain Products:

  • Establish and maintain compliance test data and required analytical techniques for food contact/medical applications
  • Manage the registration of any food contact or medical application products
  • Audit food contact and medical applications/products regularly 

Enhance The Product Stewardship Culture Through Standards & Centralized Tools:

  • Create standards of practice and regularly audit Product Stewardship risks
  • Create and lead the  Steering Committee
  • Establish data on the impact of processing fluoropolymers

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, health/medical sciences, toxicology, regulatory affairs or related technical discipline;
  • Master’s degree in HSE or Product Safety preferred.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in Product Stewardship/Regulatory Affairs with a proven track record of success in managing product risks (prefer chemical experience)
  • Maintain broad technical expertise in REACH, RoHS, Prop 65, TSCA, and other international regulations
  • Demonstrated food contact and medical registration experience; plus technical ability in PFAS

  • Ability to rank relative compliance risks and prioritize resulting actions accordingly while handling/analyzing multiple arenas of legislation

  • Ability to appropriately communicate issues to various levels of management optimally balancing alerting vs. alarming dependent on the relative risk/exposure
  • Must be able to travel ~30%
