The National Accounts Manager -  Retail will provide account leadership by promoting and servicing CertainTeed products and programs consistent with the overall business strategy of CertainTeed, incorporating the Sales and Marketing objectives of each business unit.  The position is responsible for managing assigned Retail Accounts maximizing account volume, price and product mix to achieve established sales, profit, account and share objectives.  The National Accounts Manager – Retail, helps drive the strategic initiatives within the One CertainTeed strategy – working across Business units, departments, teams and functions to minimize silos, maximize company opportunities and growth in the Retail Channel while striving to provide best in class performance.  This position has a high frequency of direct customer contact with key personnel at all levels of the Retailer with the goal of understanding customer’s business model, strategy and sales objectives in order to improve CertainTeed sales performance and productivity in support of Retailer’s defined objectives.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain an intimate knowledge of assigned customers’ business strategies, operations and policies/procedures, key personnel and serve as the CertainTeed liaison across the businesses.  Negotiate, develop and execute specific business plans that focus on the promotion of all CertainTeed products that aligns with the sales/marketing strategies of each group.  Coordinate communications with and across respective divisional regional/territory sales managers to include sales, price management and promotion with assigned accounts to maximize volumes, price and convert locations.  Enhance the safety culture of CertainTeed / Saint-Gobain by personally committing to and demonstrating safe work practices and ethics.

  • The National Accounts Manager - Retail functions as the internal customer advocate within CertainTeed, facilitating operational and systemic linkages required to conduct business, as well as resolving customer problems within company guidelines.  Works with customers to assist them in enhancing product mix and to influence buying decisions. Develops customer location-specific action plans to drive sales and follows through on implementation.
  • The National Accounts Manager - Retail works in conjunction and coordination with team members across Business units. Must possess creative skills to develop strategic account plans for the customers’ business and set objectives that are in line with the represented divisions sales objectives and realistic to the customers’ business objectives.  Finally, must be able to analyze and optimize product mix, pricing and program elements to ensure the profitability of the account. 

Required Qualifications

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA strongly preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills and the ability multi-task and work on several projects at a time.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years-related retail sales experience, in the building products industry [required] with an in-depth knowledge of the promotional practices, merchandising elements, laws, and procedures concerned with retail sales.
  • Knowledge of electronic commerce a must including: EDI, e-catalogs, e-business, QR Codes and other emerging technologies.
  • Strong self-motivation, relationship building and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must have a strong ability to influence others, both the buyers and internal customers (CertainTeed).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills required with an ability to strategize and effectively plan activities for both self and for direct reports.
  • Individual must be capable of working within and across sales territories and Regions encompassing several product divisions to meet sales and marketing goals within assigned budgets.
  • Solid analytical skills will enable candidate to identify and quantify market opportunities.
  • Consultative selling and strong communication, presentation, negotiations and time/project management skills are assumed
  • Working in coordination & collaboration with National Accounts Managers – Retail across respective account.
  • Communication skills, including online meeting management
  • Strong interpersonal skills; must be a team player
  • Results driven team player with good interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and team environments.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate in a timely critical and accurate way.
  • Requires adaptability and methodical/analytical problem solving skills
  • Detail oriented and deadline sensitive
  • Works in a remote / office environment and sometimes requires long periods of sitting and extensive use of a computer or phone. Some travel required, approximately four (4) to eight (8) times per year using airplanes and rental cars.
