The Electro-Mechanical/PLC Controls Technician is responsible for performing all tasks related to the maintenance, and support of a control system, not limited to PLC Troubleshooting, Sensors and Devices Troubleshooting, and Electrical Maintenance.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required of the Electro-Mechanical/PLC Controls Technician:

  • Adhere to all safety procedures and best manufacturing practices
  • Technical troubleshooting of control systems, not limited to PLC, HMI, motor control centers, instrumentation, and networking of industrial control systems
  • Teamwork to complete time sensitive tasks not limited to Motor Replacement, Alignment and Wiring, sensor and device replacement
  • General Preventative Maintenance on Motor Controlled Systems
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice
  • Must have experience using power tools, hand tools, and digital multimeter.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspection on equipment per SOPs and report to immediate supervisor any abnormal observation/s using work order requests
  • Attend to emergency work order request and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Carry out and / or assist in the repair, construction, installation, and maintenance of various types of production process and auxiliary equipment.
  • Perform plumbing, pipefitting, carpentry, masonry, and rigging work.
  • Be on call for weekend or non-regular hours when scheduled.
  • Housekeeping duties in specific work area and general plant
  • Other duties may be assigned per business needs

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Engineering Technology graduate or High School diploma/general education degree (GED) and a minimum of 3-5 years related work experience required
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, job folders, and memos
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Electrical and Process Instrument Troubleshooting or Industrial Maintenance Mechanics required

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations and small groups

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations to include conversions, weight measurements, volume, and distance

Additional Description

  • Able to read and understand control panel drawings; required
  • Able to troubleshoot general electrical circuits; required
  • Able to understand 3 phase motor wiring; required
  • Able to understand  NFPA 70-E and OSHA Electrical Safety Procedures; required
  • Able to understand 120/480 VAC power and 24 VDC power; required
  • Able to assemble, test, and maintain circuitry or electronic control panels according to engineering drawings, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronics; required
  • Understanding of UL508A control panel wiring preferred
  • Understanding of PLC and HMI programming is preferred
  • Understanding of Industrial Networking is preferred
