Position Description

Job Summary

Saint-Gobain Research North America is looking for a talented and energetic research engineer to join our growing Mobility-Engineered Components team. Saint-Gobain is a world leader in developing innovative, high-performance solutions through our unparalleled expertise in materials solutions for extreme conditions. We are searching for an experienced, hands-on project leader to investigate, research, and develop new materials, including sustainable products and technologies that strengthen our offerings. The new team member will have the opportunity to leverage their engineering expertise by leading activities and supporting projects from the initial stages of conceptualization, prototyping and experimental testing, to the implementation in manufacturing. Projects will focus on process and product development activities and follow a Gate-based methodology.



  • Utilizes basic scientific or engineering principles and techniques to undertake specific tasks and projects with defined scope.
  • Carries small to medium projects or studies through to successful completion. Guidance on project objectives and technical approach are provided but autonomous execution is expected. Projects involve the extension of present or new technology in one or more areas, involving improvement and/or development of processes, materials, including sustainability and testing techniques. Projects are assigned by supervisor and are several weeks to months in duration.
  • Supports senior engineers and scientists in R&D team with their projects.
  • Manages and documents projects and tasks effectively with supervision.
  • Take leading role in aspects of lab management: safety, equipment maintenance, 5S, lab audit preparation and action follow-up, lab postings, regular equipment checks etc.
  • Conducts hands-on experimental work.
  • Seeks out others to enhance and streamline development and decision making.
  • Design and execute experiments for product and application development



  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to solve technical problems by combining literature search, scientific knowledge and hands on experiments
  • Strong project management skills, be able to design experimental plans and execute; have ability to analyze results, draw conclusions and plan next steps.

Required Qualifications


    • BS degree in chemical engineering, polymer engineering, material science, chemistry or other related discipline.
