Job Summary

Saint-Gobain Research North America is looking for a motivated Research Engineer to join our Grinding and Finishing Technology (GFT) team in the Competency Research Labs (CRL). Saint-Gobain is a world leader in developing innovative, high-performance solutions across a multitude of materials and product areas. We are searching for a hands-on candidate to leverage a wide range of engineering expertise to support product and process innovations. Under the direction of the R&D manager, the candidate will have the opportunity to working closely with various R&D teams, business divisions and customers for developing and deploying sensors, measurement tools for internal and external applications.

The main job duties will include:

  • Lead the development of measurement tools to support process and production innovation, including sensors, data acquisition system and machine connections
  • Work with business, application engineering and sales teams to deploy the measurement tools for internal and customer field tests
  • Support SGR North America through developing new sensors, implementing measurement tools and troubleshooting of equipment electronics
  • Support testing activities through supporting new test method development, coordinating with operation team for internal test execution & data analysis, and participating in lab operation.
  • Contribute to GFT competency development and fundamental research in the field of sensor, measurement tools, and grinding technology

Required Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Science, or other related disciplines. 
  • Previous experience in electronics development and manufacturing processes is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated hands-on skills in electronics, operating instruments, troubleshooting equipment and analyzing data with statistical tools.
  • Open-minded for team collaboration, rapid learning, and quick adaption to new technologies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for communicating with all levels of colleagues, management and customers.
