Position Description

Job Summary

CertainTeed, a leader in the construction products industry, is looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join our team at our Hagerstown, MD facility. The Senior Project Engineer plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates technical activities on assigned projects and engineering work. This individual is a liaison between the engineering and manufacturing departments/personnel. The Senior Project Engineer will influence effective communication and ensure coordination on assigned projects between all involved departments/participants, especially regarding change of processes and procedures. In order to be effective, this person must be vigilant in monitoring for compliance and ensuring projects follow accepted engineering practices and standards. The Senior Project Engineer reports to the Plant Engineering Manager.


Required Qualifications

Plan, conduct and coordinate technical and management aspects of projects:

  • Create, maintain, and communicate project schedules to meet company goals. Organize and plan work tasks to ensure successful completion of engineering projects.
  • Provide engineering project management.
  • Coordinate the design, construction, fabrication, installation, start-up and modification of plant facilities, equipment, and systems.
  • To insure success – utilize cross- functional team approach, ensuring lines of communication to all affected parties are open and dialogue is free flowing.
  • Provide complete start-to-finish management of both capital and non-capital projects.
  • Provide general engineering support as needed to support day-to-day business needs.
  • Assist plant maintenance personnel in troubleshooting process equipment
  • Train plant personnel on new equipment and systems
  • Position will require the use of multiple engineering disciplines with an emphasis on Mechanical Engineering and plant utility support.
  • Maintain environmental control program, assuring compliance with local and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Support a safe working environment in area of responsibility at all times.
  • Correct or report unsafe acts or conditions through appropriate channels of resolution.

 


Additional Description

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. Equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 1-4 years of manufacturing experience with demonstrated project management and vendor selection experience recommended.
  • Will require the use of multiple engineering disciplines with an emphasis on Mechanical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, manage, and implement projects.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow directions and meet deadlines.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legal regulations.
