Application Engineer- Energy (Technical Sales)

Job Summary

Saint-Gobain Performance Ceramic and Refractories (PCR) is interested in hiring an Application Engineer to manage the sales of PCR Refractories solutions in the Energy/ Petrochemical market.  This is a technical sales role that will take place in an industrial environment. Key responsibilities will include promoting PCR solutions to customers, preparing quotes, managing projects, assisting with installations, facilitating the link with Saint-Gobain production plants, and achieving the forecasted sales and profit objectives for the assigned territory. The position will be in a highly technical and competitive environment requiring constant innovation to achieve the budgeted results.  

The main functions of the role include:

• Independently managing assigned customer accounts within the Energy Refractories Market.
• Achieving sales, and margin targets to meet forecast in the assigned customer base. Actively visiting customers and providing them with product/technical solutions to meet their needs via quotations and proposals.
• Providing required technical/marketing sales expertise to other team members, manufacturing or engineering personnel, and other international and domestic personnel to secure domestic orders.
• Act as the technical resource for product selection, installation method, and operational suggestions for customers as required.
• Identify new opportunities and undertake product development projects to promote continued sales growth and expand the customer base in the assigned markets.
• Attend customer outages to inspect their refractory linings and provide support to the customer/ their contractor during maintenance outages.
• Provide sales forecast data, determine requirements, and champion the development of technical promotional literature.
• Independently coordinate activities related to marketing outreach such as trade shows, technical conferences and other forums.
• Other related duties assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science in Material Science, Ceramic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required. Masters a plus.
• Refractory/ Petrochemical and Energy Market Knowledge is a plus
• 3+ Years’ experience in refractory applications- Energy experience preferred
• Experience with Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Engineering and heat transfer modeling preferred.
• Use of design and analysis software to support sales activities is considered a plus.
• Strong marketing and commercial skills, along with technical and working knowledge of internal product manufacture and external application required.
• Understanding of LOTO, confined space entry preferred.
