Job Summary

What is the job?

The Roxboro, NC plant has an immediate need for a Production Technician on shift. Shift schedules rotate quarterly: Day 6AM-6:30PM and Night 6PM-630AM; must be able to work either shift.

The specific position(s) have not been finalized; candidate to start as Take-Off Driver initially but likely will end up in Dry End Relief (DER) or Wet End Relief (WER).

  • Technicians are accountable for their own safety and the safety of others. Actively participates in the Roxboro Behavioral Safety Program.
  • Takes responsibility for product quality and performs appropriate tests in order to make meaningful decisions.
  • Works with the team to produce the highest quality product to ensure Preferred status on an efficient basis.
  • Operates mobile equipment in the normal course of daily activities to move both wallboard and raw materials.
  • Safely lifts wallboard, raw materials, and equipment as needed to perform duties

Dry End Relief

  • Continually watches board face quality
  • Key interface between Mixer and Dry end
  • Maintains and understands all equipment in the area
  • Identifies and communicates quality defects
  • Tracks board count, dry waste and samples and enters data into GXO
  • Operates Human Machine Interface (HMI) equipment
  • Monitors all moving equipment and board tracking
  • Performs start-up and shut-down procedures for the related equipment
  • Reclaims the rejected board set aside for rework
  • Manages the refeed area
  • Ensures hold tag procedures and finished goods inventory are correct
  • Maintains and understands equipment operations
  • Coordinates and communicates all product change-overs
  • Performs and understands all Dry end testing procedures
  • Key communicator to the cutting list and product run schedules
  • Able to relieve bundler and takeoff driver positions
  • Manages and organizes end tapes
  • Performs quality checks routinely
  • Understands the operation of the dryer

Wet End Relief

  • The Relief Technician will be fully trained and proficient to perform all plant positions including but not limited to; QA, Mixer, Supply, TO Driver, Bundler, Stacker, Dunnage and Shipping Technician.
  • Perform quality checks as required at the Wet End Transfer
  • Input data into Quality Assurance database

 


Required Qualifications

What do you bring?

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Ability to work in a team based environment with little to no supervision
  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Manufacturing experience in a team based environment
  • Familiarity with Safety Programs in a manufacturing facility
  • PC skills including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications
  • Familiar with World Class Manufacturing systems
  • Forklift Experience
  • Willingness to be cross-trained
  • Display a strong sense of focus and direction and teamwork
