Position Description

Job Summary



Under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager, the position is accountable for a safe, efficient, accurate, and timely warehouse and shipping operations. These operations include receiving, storage, order processing, shipping, inventory management, and warehouse facility management. The position is accountable for scheduling the appropriate staff, and monitoring progress and results of the shift.




  • Manage the warehouse and shipping processes and people to achieve departmental safety, productivity, and quality goals through the utilization of standard procedures
  • Plan pick location, zone profiling and yard management
  • Monitor Key Operating Indicators, post and communicate results to shipping department.
  • Serve as safety liaison for employees; internal safety team member; champion of safety culture through facility
  • Oversee training for new employees; coach and provide feedback on employee performance and development
  • Administrative duties to include reporting, payroll maintenance, data entry and special projects
  • Maintain on time inbound and outbound daily load schedule
  • Receive and check orders against invoices
  • Enter invoices for received goods into the SAP system in a timely manner
  • Monitor trash area, arrange for removal
  • Assign workload, monitor progress and evaluate results
  • Authoritatively recommend selection and termination recommendations
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure products are shipped in a timely manner
  • Process shipments and maintain inventory within SAP


The position works within established CertainTeed policy and warehouse procedures.  The position is expected to make decisions pertaining to the safe operation of equipment, resolve potential safety issues, and troubleshoot problems which may occur, but refer deviations in protocol to the Warehouse Manager.

Required Qualifications



The position must have a working knowledge of a manufacturing environment, and continuous operations. 5 years of supervisory experience required. The position must possess excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead and direct a large staff. The position must have basic PC skills, including spreadsheet applications. SAP or other WMS experience preferred.  This knowledge and skill would typically be obtained through formal education such as a BA in management, and through practical experience in a manufacturing environment.




This position requires the ability to move heavy objects safely, not to exceed 50 pounds, without requiring assistance such as a dolly, forklift, or team member assistance.  There are also frequent and prolonged periods of standing/walking and pushing /pulling or moving/lifting supplies.  This position experiences frequent/occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching and climbing ladders or stairs.  This position is located within a vinyl siding manufacturing facility and requires the position can work in an environment that can be noisy and dusty. The possession of or ability to obtain licensure for a motor vehicle, lift truck is required. The ability to withstand heat/cold and chemical odors is also required.  Must comply with all safety requirements including use of the personal protection equipment required for this position.
