An integral segment of CertainTeed’s Central Marketing Center of Excellence, the Content Marketing team is responsible for the planning, conception, writing, and editing of marketing materials and thought leadership in support of our brand/sales/marketing efforts across multiple business units, distribution channels, audiences, and countries. The team is a strategic partner to business stakeholders and the brand team, collaborating to create targeted marketing campaigns and tactics that reinforce our brand/product messaging, positioning and objectives, and guidelines, in an effort to increase share-of-voice and awareness for CertainTeed.

The Content Writer works with Manager, Content Marketing and other members of the Content team to develop quality content, focusing on supporting specific business and product-level strategic objectives for our Exteriors Product Group (EPG) portfolio (Roofing, Siding, etc.). Candidate should be comfortable writing and editing materials covering a broad range of topics and targets.

As a writer, the candidate will be expected to clearly articulate CertainTeed’s brand message, product positioning, and go-to-market strategies; and develop a strong grasp of specific subjects and audiences over time. The candidate will also work with internal colleagues, along with agency and freelance resources, to ensure consistent quality and integrity in our written materials. The candidate will maintain CertainTeed’s brand position and showcase CertainTeed’s value proposition through insightful content and well-written copy. Additionally, the Content Writer will assist in coordinating multimedia projects – from photography to video, including the sourcing and directing of photographers, image review, video scripting, on-set direction support, draft reviews, and publishing.


  • Develop, write, and edit marketing content to support campaign/project needs, including online product pages and product brochures, project profiles and case studies, blogs and articles, video scripts, technical content, press releases, marketing emails, social media, and promotional campaigns/events.
  • Coordinate photography to support marketing needs, including the sourcing of photographers, providing creative direction, photo acquisitions, and reviewing final imagery for publishing.
  • Coordinate video content, from creation and review of scripts and storyboards, to handling draft review with stakeholders to prepare the final asset for publishing.
  • Ensure all published content is proofread, consistent with brand message and guidelines, and follows best practices for the channel on which it appears.
  • Work with stakeholders to assess project/campaign needs, inform brief development, and recommend solutions.
  • Collaborate with Central Marketing colleagues on the Production and Digital/Web teams to streamline workflows, reduce timelines, and produce best-in-class deliverables.
  • Support business PR needs, working in conjunction with the Manager, Content Marketing, other Central Marketing colleagues, and agency partners to execute PR and social media projects.
  • Maintain, curate, and update content assets in PIM and DAM libraries.
  • Our customer is our internal stakeholder(s), and our commitment to service is of primary importance. Therefore, the Content Writer will support the team in utilizing digital tools and platforms to maintain regular communication on progress, timelines, and deliverables to ensure stakeholder satisfaction throughout the planning and execution of events.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or journalism, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in content development and/or marketing communications, preferably across B2B or product brands.
  • Superior creative and technical writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Experience writing across integrated platforms such as traditional print, advertising, PR, social media, and digital properties.
  • Ability to develop content against a project brief, meeting the messaging and positioning needs of the client, while adhering to overarching brand guides for voice, tone, and message.
  • Experience with CMS platforms like Drupal, Contently, SharePoint, or others a plus.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, comfortable multitasking.
  • Experience working with SEO, metrics, and analytics a plus.
  • Experience writing for building materials, construction, or related industry is a plus.
