Position Description

Job Summary

The Financial Analyst’s primary function is to analyze channel sales in order to understand and provide insights on key drivers including price realization, book to invoiced sales, sales mix, new products, market share gains/losses and other economic factors.  Responsibilities will include monthly reporting to key stakeholders as well as analytics to support the business in implementing effective pricing strategies to maximize price realization, gain market share and achieve overall revenue goals.

In addition, responsibilities will include managing the price realization budget and billback expense including the accruals and balance sheet management.

This highly analytical role requires the analyst to consider data from multiple sources and develop analytical tools and models for strategic analysis.  The position requires a Financial Analyst who enjoys forming innovative, conceptual solutions to financial and profitability analysis issues. It is also important that this person be a motivated self-starter with strong judgement. 

The Analysts’ direct interaction with executives, market managers and key stakeholders will be essential to clearly convey a structured, proactive and unbiased view of current and proposed strategies.  The analyst will also partner with IT to enhance and develop tools (outside of excel analysis) to provide insights to the business.

Essential Functions


Analysis and Reporting

  • Assess data from a variety of sources and use it to derive insights into Book to Invoiced sales including pricing strategies, deals and promos, billbacks, channel/product mix and their impact on profitability, sales volumes and sales targets. This aspect of the role requires analysts to translate complex data into actionable strategies and techniques to drive sales and enhance marketing efforts. Analyst will present their findings to executives, market managers and other key stakeholders through weekly or monthly meetings with both written reports and visual presentations to share their multi-dimensional (Channel, BU, customer and material) findings.
  • Develop analytic tools that are used throughout the company to identify trends and opportunities to improve revenue.  These tools will streamline the analysis process and provide more immediate information about current pricing, promotions, effectiveness and overall impact on annual goals.  Data cleansing and defining standards may be required as part of the implementation.
  • Transition of monthly reporting to digital platforms (i.e. MicroStrategy, Prophix)


Financial Close

  • Provide accurate reporting of monthly results by SRU, BU and Channel.  Reporting to include results, KPI’s including comparison vs. budget, reforecast and underlying drivers.  Monthly close process includes journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliation, control validations.

Special Projects

  • The average number of concurrent projects is 2 to 3. Projects are normally assigned by the Commercial Finance Manager, although the incumbent will be expected to recommend and undertake self-initiated project work when they discover an area meriting such attention.

Internal control liaison

  • Coordinate and facilitate internal control reviews, reporting and requirements related to your assigned activities and ensuring documentation systems are developed and maintained for each new procedure or information system that is implemented or modified.

Required Qualifications


Experience Details

3 - 5 years experience

Progressive Financial Analysis with a broad understanding and perspective of financial and/or accounting principals

2 - 3 years experience

Demonstrated IT experience using various financial reporting software such as SAP, MicroStrategy and Corporate Performance Management platforms such as Prophix & Hyperion.

2 - 3 years experience

Analysis with a focus on sales
