Production Supervisor - 3rd Shift

Position Description

Job Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the staff, processes and equipment involved in the manufacturing and fabrication of composite parts for the aerospace industry.  The Supervisor manages staff work schedules and promotes a highly efficient, organized and safe work environment.  The Supervisor will work closely with management, engineering and quality resources to continually improve the process. He / She will be responsible to oversee the site while meeting weekly build requirements. The supervisor will need to the ability to modify schedule as needed and train direct reports to support the business.

3rd Shift Days/Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 11:00pm-7:00am

Essential functions include:

  • Shift supervision to meet internal and external customer requirements. This includes management of production schedule, coordination of work responsibilities and communication between shifts/departments and all stakeholders. (50% of time)
  • Ongoing support and project leadership for training, continuous Improvement / optimization to reach capacity, yield and cost objectives. (20% of time)
  • Participate on WCM pillar teams and achieve lead green belt / yellow belt efforts. (10% of time)
  • Development of staff, including training, coaching and performance management related activities. Shift Supervisors are also responsible for maintenance of time and attendance tracking systems. (10% of time)
  • Safety, 5S, meetings and AS9100 and ISO14001 related activities. (10% of time)

This location is a Union facility. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Operations, Management, Engineering or related field
    • Consideration may be given to those with 7+ years' of experience in a related discipline in lieu of a formal degree
  • Experience working in a manufacturing facility
  • Supervision experience, in a fabricated related field preferred
  • WCM/Lean manufacturing implementation is preferred
  • Ability to read, understasnd and fabricate detailed drawings is preferred
  • Ability to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and perform operator training. Develop testing to verify effectiveness of training. Cross train staff for maximum flexibility and job satisfaction
  • A strong understanding of the Union environment to ensure that the company and the union comply with the Collective Bargaining Agreement
