Position Description

Job Summary

The Tool and Die Maker Internship with Saint-Gobain provides professional on the job development opportunities and valuable applied learning in a dynamic manufacturing facility environment.

Your main objective will be to support the Tool Design department. You will also have the opportunity to work with Journeyman Tool Makers to understand fundamental theories of mold construction.  A central part of this internship will be a hands-on experience to support troubleshooting molds, fixtures, dies, punches, gages, automation assemblies for an enriched understanding of molds and other tooling. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support Tool Designer, Application Development Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
  • Attend project kick-off and tool design review meetings.
  • Develop designs (model and drawing) for fixtures, components, or other secondary items.
  • Generate detail drawings from 3D design files including Bill of Materials and inspection documents.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Update red-lined drawing models. 
  • Order components for tool build per Bill of Materials.
  • Understand and work within project management system.
  • Develop/update SOP’s for tool Preventative Maintenance (PM).
  • Develop/update tool design SOP’s, present to appropriate teams for review.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or a recent graduate of a Machine Tool or Engineering program
