Position Description

Job Summary

Saint-Gobain’s Specialty Grains & Powders is looking for a driven, talented engineer to join our current team in leading our pilot plant activities. Projects will focus on product scaling up, samples coordination and execution, product improvement as well as supporting production teams on automation projects related to Saint-Gobain extensive product line for Surface Conditioning.

The candidate will be expected to organize, manage, coordinate on key product transfer processes from r&d team to production for various industrial and electronic applications. The candidate is expected to collaborate effectively with cross-function teams to ensure effective communication and problem solving of many hard core chemical engineering problems. Candidate is also expected to play a role in managing, coordinating and executing sample making to support and enable customer engagements. In addition to the candidate’s primary projects, the candidate will be expected to support production team on automation projects.

  • Key engineering resource who is responsible for problem solving in the product scale up process, representative engineering projects include mixing, blending, pumping, filtration, etc
  • Key leader on coordinating and executing sample making covering five major product lines, communicating with customer service team, sales teams & product managers to ensure on-time delivery of R&D samples to global customers
  • Oversee and responsible for the New Product Introduction list to ensure seamless scale up of new products from R&D team to Production team
  • Basic coding skills are required for completing small coding projects related to automation
  • Depending on candidates’ fit, the job scope can be further expanded to include external facing responsibilities, e.g. application engineering projects, technical service support for key customers, etc.
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously, on time, well documented and within budget to meet business and customer objectives. 
  • Safety oriented mindset emphasizing a safety first approach for day to day work
  • Demonstrates open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility. 
  • Seeks out others to enhance and streamline development and decision making.
  • Continuously and reliably carries projects through to completion with little assistance from supervisor. 
  • Keeps project teams on track with project timeline and budget. 
  • Able to communicate and use business language in an industrial environment and coordinate with plant operations.

 


Required Qualifications

  • Familiarity with wet chemistry, chemical engineering processes, data analysis, coding languages.  
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback. 
  • Ability to network within and out of group.
  • Respectful communication and ability to collaborate in a team environment required. 
  • Ability to network within and out of group.
  • Ability to maintain composure and organize teams in high pressure situation.
