Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Group Global EHS Director and Plant Manager, the EHS Coordinator is responsible for organizing and directing environmental, health and safety activities for the Poestenkill, NY site.  This position is responsible for promotion and compliance to Corporate and/or local EHS policies, procedures and regulations as well as all governmental and/or legal requirements.  Implementation, management, control and continuous improvement of the EHS Management Systems of ISO 14001 & ISO18001 is also included.

In addition, this position will provide general support of site Operations procedures, process improvements, maintenance programs and general engineering controls.

Essential Functions of the Position:

DIRECTION OF SITE EHS ACTIVITIES:  This position will be the owner of the WCM EHS Pillar.  As that owner he/she coordinates and monitors plant activities to ensure compliance with Saint Gobain and Regulatory EHS requirements.  Researches, translates, and communicates these EHS policies & procedures, SG programs and governmental regulations in matters related to environment, health and safety issues to site department managers and all others at the site.  Typical site EHS activities include, but are not limited to Emergency Response & Preparedness, Crisis Management, Risk Management, Hazard Communication, Electrical Safety, Incident Investigation, Contractor Safety, LOTO, Permits To Work, and Chemical / Waste Management.

MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS:  Owns and manages the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management Systems, ensuring they are implemented and maintained in accordance with the most current Standards.  This includes development, implementation and oversite of all related policies and procedures, audit programs, training programs, Aspects and Impacts, Site Legal & Other Requirements Matrix and risk management. Management of EHS related audits, both internal and external are included.  Serves as Document Control expert for all related documents in accordance with site procedures. Prepares and presents EHS Management Review for the facility.

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:  Completes all required Saint Gobain reporting for facility, corporate and regulatory agencies including but not limited to Work Place Injury Log, GAIA, Waste tracking and Risk Management reporting.  Completes all applicable local, state and federal reports and permits in a timely manner. 

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT:  Conducts and/or manages incident investigations utilizing current Saint Gobain methodology where appropriate.  Includes department managers and other experts as needed.  All TF and EVE incidents are included.

EHS RELATED TRAINING: Coordinates and / or conducts training for facility personnel as it concerns EHS matters. Training experts and departmental managers will conduct specific training sessions as necessary.

OPERATIONS/PROCESS SUPPORT:  Provides general support of site Operations; developing and implementing SOPs, manufacturing procedures, process improvements, maintenance programs and general engineering controls.
