Position Description

Job Summary

Saint-Gobain High Performance Solutions is seeking an experienced Technical Sales Engineer & Proposal Manager for our Merrimack, NH location.  This is a multi-disciplinary position that interfaces across all functional groups worldwide (commercial and operational). Responsible for the accurate and timely handling of all Fabricated Systems customer inquiries for the Sheergard® ground based radome business.  This includes all RFI/RFQ/RFP inquiries/requests from customers worldwide. Provides technical sales assistance to customers in developing solutions to their needs and is then responsible for developing proposals to support those activities. 

Position consists of 5 primary elements:

  5. Sales Visits

Essential Functions

Preparing proposals that are compliant to customer RFI/RFQ/RFP as they pertain to Sheergard solutions. Excellent technical writing skills are required so that solutions to customer requests are clearly stated and that compliance to customer requirements are clearly defined

Constructing detailed cost estimates in accordance with customer requirements to include engineering design efforts, compliance matrices, material test matrices, fabrication builds, installation services, etc.  Efforts include coordinating with internal/external partners and vendors in obtaining quotes so as to develop most accurate costs for the effort

Designing, developing and proposing technical solutions to customers by working with them to understand their needs up front. Needs to be able to express to customers in clear manner (verbally and in writing) our abilities to provide the best solution through knowledge of our core competencies

Recording and tracking all customer inquiries through the use of our “I-File” system as well as Salesforce (RFI/RFQ/RFP).  Direct Customer engagement to ensure clarify of inquiry, timing of opportunity, completeness of SG submittals, and ensuring follow up with customer at proper time to move opportunities along

Support customer visits at the request of the BD/Sales manager in order to provide customers with best possible technical support related to their inquiries and opportunities. This will include customer visits to MENH/PUWA, Visits to customer facilities, as well as exhibitions in support of sales

Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business

Initiates/ exhibits safety awareness and safe work practices throughout daily activities

Complexity of Role

Individual will be supporting matrix organizational within AFF. This includes supporting AP and EMEA with necessary proposals and technical guidance, as well as sales support visits/exhibitions


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline + 5 years of experience, Required or Associates Degree in Engineering Discipline + 15 years of experience
  • 5+ years experience with design of structures, required
  • 5+ years experience in Commercial/Technical role with exposure and experience in technical solutions environment with familiarity with Project based business. required
  • 5+ years experience demostrating excellent communication skills with customers, supply chain vendors, and internal functional areas, required
  • 5+ years experience with technical writing of formal proposals and quotation preparation in response to specific customer requests, required
  • 5+ years experience with developing project cost estimates based on customer supplied requirements, required
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build a strong level of commitment and direction internally and externally, required
  • Well developed organizational influence skills with te ability to work with people at all levels, required
  • Microsoft Software experience - sufficient understanding and knowledge of Microsoft Word with publishing skills and Microsoft database, such as Access, required
  • Background in telecommunications (Ground based antenna systems) would be advantageous, preferred
  • Salesforce experience, preferred
  • Ability to travel to customers sites, sales meetings, training and exhibits as required
