Position Description

Job Summary

The Bristol, Rhode Island manufacturing facility is seeking a 1st Shift Plating Operator

Shift Days/Hours:     1nd shift Monday - Friday 5:30am - 2:00pm

This position is responsible for producing high quality plated bearings for the automotive industry, taking direction, and utilizing written procedures, work routers, written and verbal communication, and operating equipment in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

  • Use safe practices and comply with all company policies, procedures and health, safety and environmental regulations, as required
  • Conduct safety observations and HSE activities as required by our plant HSE program
  • Keep a clean work environment in accordance with company policy and procedures
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions on improvement opportunities
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Work from written procedures and work routers
  • Follow instructions and procedures carefully
  • Record data and report problems as they arise
  • Weigh and dispense raw materials
  • Operate automated equipment
  • Report defective material or equipment problems to supervisor or engineer, as directed
  • Ensure chemical containers are labeled with contents and hazard(s); comply with SDS
  • Participate in hazardous waste training as required
  • Must be able to work 2nd shift (1:30pm - 10pm) to cover vacations

 


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Able to operate independently and as a part of a team.
  • Basic command of the English language, written and verbal.
  • Able to read and follow SOPs, labels, and instructions.
  • Mathematical abilities necessary to fulfil requirements of position.
  • Forklift experience required.
  • Able to be trained as Hazardous Waste Handler
  • Able to handle heavy, bulky items manually.

  • Climb/Balance - important if the amount and kind of climbing or balancing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion
  • Bend/Stoop/Kneel/Crouch/Crawl -important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles
  • Standing/Walking:  Particularly for sustained periods of time
  • Sitting: Particularly for sustained periods of time
  • Finger/Grasp/Handle/Feel:  Working,  primarily with fingers
  • Talk/Hear:  Expressing or receiving detailed information by means of the spoken word
  • Repetitive Motions:  Substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
