This position will have a focus on research and development and new product development for SiC and other engineered ceramics. Under the direction of the group leader, the candidate will also design, run experiments, produce lab scale samples, operate pilot equipment, and analyze the experimental outcomes. In addition to designing experiments for the candidate’s primary projects, the candidate will be expected to conduct experiments to support projects led by others.
Must possess a body of technical work commensurate with their years of experience including but not limited to: demonstration of familiarity with statistical tools, data analysis, and drawing conclusions based on a collection of basic data and interpretation.
Incumbent analyzes and reports results using statistical tools and analytical data of medium complexity.
BS Degree with a minimum of 2+ years’ experience, or an entry level candidate with a MS degree
Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, or other related disciplines.
2+ years of hands on experience with manufacturing processes/equipment in an industrial or research setting.
Conducting hands-on laboratory experiments for key development programs. Projects will focus on process and product development activities related to Performance Ceramics and Refractories product lines, specifically sintered Sic and its applications. As a Research Engineer, the candidate will research and develop new technologies to improve processes and products within our business. Phases of development include pilot, scale-up, and implementation of R&D processes into manufacturing. The candidate will take project objectives and transform them in to actionable tasks including research of technologies, design and execution of experimentation, analysis of results, and generation of IP and technical reports.
